Alex G. Marsal, Ph.D. has successfully provided psychotherapy services to various populations for over 20 years. Dr. Marsal is also President and founder of The Recovery Institute, Inc. which specializes in the development of Multidimensional Change Models, web-based assessment and treatment instruments, management of outcome research, and provision of in-services/certification training. Dr. Marsal is recognized by NY State Office of Mental Health and ACT Institute as having expertise in treatment of psychiatric and addiction co-morbidity disorders. Dr. Marsal has over 10 years of administrative behavioral health experience within hospital settings and proficiency on program evaluation and system redesign achieving efficiencies, improving satisfaction, creating innovative services and increasing profitability. Dr. Marsal also is Cuban-American psychologist familiar with Hispanic cultures and fluent in Spanish.
Education & Other Accomplishments
Dr. Marsal received his B.A. in psychology from Seton Hall University, NJ; a M.A. in applied behavior analysis from the University of the Pacific, CA; and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Dakota. Dr. Marsal completed his psychology internship at Albany Medical College, NY. Dr. Marsal is a member of American Psychological Association, National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and Psychological Association of Northeastern New York, Inc. Other accomplishments include having 32 years of martial arts study; earning 8th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate; being inducted in numerous Martial Arts Hall of Fame and having over 25 years experience teaching children and adults.
