Alex G. Marsal, Ph.D. has provided psychotherapy services to various populations for over 25 years. Dr. Marsal is also the CEO of Vanguard Behavioral Solutions (VBS), which delivers innovative web-based solutions that help standardize evidence base behavioral health assessment and treatment practices to maximize clinical performance, patient outcomes, and cost savings.
Dr. Marsal is recognized by New York State Office of Mental Health and ACT Institute as having expertise in the treatment of psychiatric and addiction comorbidity disorders. Dr. Marsal has over 10 years of administrative behavioral health experience within hospital settings and is proficient on program evaluation and system redesign to achieve increased efficiency, satisfaction, and profitability.
Dr. Marsal received his B.A. in psychology from Seton Hall University, NJ; a M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Pacific, CA; a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota and the Psychology Internship at Albany Medical College, NY. Dr. Marsal is a member of the American Psychological Association, National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and Psychological Association of Northeastern New York Inc. Dr. Marsal is fluent in Spanish and familiar with Hispanic cultures.
Other accomplishments include having 40 years of martial arts study, earning a 10th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate, being inducted into numerous Martial Arts Halls of Fame and having over 35 years teaching karate to kids and adults. In the last two years, Dr. Marsal has successfully collaborated with Troy Housing Authority to offer karate classes to children of several low income residences at no cost. Dr. Marsal enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years, his two adult daughters, and three dogs.
